I recently had my 1958 Leica M2 repaired and repainted by Alan Starkie from Cameraworks-UK. Alan did an amazing job and I am very happy with the results. The camera was repainted in an anthracite grey colour which is reminiscent of a small batch of original grey M2s produced by Leica in 1960. The lettering infill is gold which Leica has used in some special edition Leica MPs. The rangefinder window was replaced as the original had a crack in the glass. Also the viewfinder aperture was changed to the Leica M4 type to enable more relaxed viewing through the viewfinder. Alan posted an article on his site about the conversion: Australian-Leica-M2-Goes-Grey-Gracefully.
